Beyond Ingredients: Construction

There are three basic types of construction; envelopes, solids and pillow. Each has a specific application. Envelopes or “jackets” are akin to a channeled comforter wrapped around a foam core. Each channel is individually filled with the proper weight ration while the channels prevent the migration of fill, so that the cushion’s contents are properly distributed. As seat cushions support up to 75% of one’s body weight, most are designed like this utilizing this envelope construction.

Back cushions do not bear much weight, so are constructed solely of one of our blends with benefit or need for the added support of a foam core.

Pillows are purely for comfort and décor and are constructed from two pieces of fabric sewn together similar to a bed pillow.
